Music is the Key - Join Band!
Introducing a child to playing an instrument, or continuing that musical education has more benefits to their overall education and ability to learn than many know. Research compiled from various sources by Spread Music Now, an organization supporting accessible music education, shows that children learning to play an instrument not only tended to receive higher marks in school, but the benefit actually grew the longer they continued their musical education. Studies show that there are benefits in both math and language arts performance, as well as other positive social and psychological tendencies, as a result of learning to play an instrument. There is also the fact that music is just plain fun, and is an enjoyable, creative outlet in its own right!
Silver Oak PTO is proud to offer our After School Band program to 5th and 6th grade students with Band Director, Mr. Andrew Boyd. This is a wonderful opportunity for your student to learn to make music with an instrument of their choice in the Beginning Band, or continue their musical education and play in the Advanced Band.
